    Subtle. Effective. Love it.

Lol, I donโ€™t think that would work! If someone really wanted to pee there, they could just aim between the bars, no? Xp
    Is this in France?

    Hi, David!

Iโ€™m Angeles from Argentina. I followed your recipe for the pecan pie at Food+Wine as you suggested to meโ€ฆ and it come out as a poem to my invited guests.

The crust was the typical crunchy one, brisรฉ. The fillingโ€ฆ I can only describe it as a ganacheโ€ฆ smooth yet with the touch of the tip of the fork little crumbles will fall aroundโ€ฆ de-li-cious!

I served warm with a whipped cream that I added some mirim and cardamom. Awesome! Thanks for your email!!

A friendโ€™s grandmother once excused herself from a fancy tea with several other older women by using the verb โ€œfaire pipiโ€. I just about spit out my drink.

    Silla:

Personally speakingโ€”as a maleโ€”I find those spikes quite a deterrent.

    • Marvin

Yikes! I agree with you wholeheartedly David, those spikes are more than enough to steer me elsewhere.

Not that I would do that sort of thing ; )

For now the image link is broken and instead I get this message:

    โ€œFlickr is having a massage.โ€

I am now duly worried about peeing apparatus having a massage.

    castration optional, I guessโ€ฆ

*winces* Oh wow, I didnโ€™t think about that! They should try them here too, especially around Cadorna train station. Bleagh.

Sent my mother the pictureโ€ฆher response was it doesnโ€™t look like itโ€™s stopping โ€œthemโ€โ€ฆ.the building looks like itโ€™s falling down:)

Subtle. Surprised they havenโ€™t added a little guillottine mechanism to take care of chancersโ€ฆ

Monsieur Lebovitz, I am SO THROUGH with the โ€œpipiโ€ in the streets out here. Itโ€™s suffocating when the streets are hot from the summer sun, too.

And donโ€™t even get me started on the French doggypoo. Iโ€™m surprised that I havenโ€™t stepped in a pile of it alreadyโ€ฆ

I seriously think being from NYC has served me well in that regard. Before we had pooper-scooper laws and before scooping up the poop actually became trendy and sophisticated, we were dodging dogpoop out there in the streets of NYC.

Now, ironically, Iโ€™m doing the dodging out here in France. :o(

Hello โ€“ Not really a pipi related comment, but I wanted to say thank you for your fab recommendations of delicious things to eat in Paris, Iโ€™ve been working through them happily having just moved here. Iโ€™ve just got back from Lโ€™Etoile dโ€™Or. Denise Acabo was so lovely and helpful despite my still terrible French, and I left having spent more on caramel and chocolate than I probably have in the last year! She also wanted to know where Iโ€™d heard about her shop, and when I told her it was on your blog she pulled out photos and newspaper clippings of you! Thanks!

    • Bob Spencer

HAHAHA!! They should have just put up a sign reading โ€œPee Hereโ€.

    • Colin

Just wanted to comment on Karinaโ€™s comments. I too have been using your blog as a Paris guide to all things edible, and when I visited Mme. Acabo and mentioned that I had heard about her shop from your blog, she immediately pulled out your โ€œGreat Book of Chocolateโ€ and smiled from ear to ear.

She is so great, explaining everything about Bernachon chocolates and LeRoux CBS to me, and told me when to come back to get a fix of all the stuff she was out of after re-opening after les vacances.

    Merci bien, David!

So post-inquisition. Hope those red spots arenโ€™t blood ;-)
