L'appart

This Wednesday, April 4th, I’ll be at The American Library in Paris as part of their Evenings with an Author, in conversation with Alec Lobrano. The event starts at 7:30 pm and will be followed by a book signing; books will be available for purchase, and you’re welcome to bring previously purchased copies. The talk is free and open to all. See you there!

    I am currently listening to L’appart as an audiobook. C’est pas mal.

    I’d never quite believed my brother-in-law’s stories about building out an attic space near Sancerre. It seems he may have understated the troubles he had. And he’s rather type-A.

    I’d put your fish-out-of-water / travelogue / cookbook on the same shelf as Innocents Abroad, or any of Bill Bryson’s books, should audiobooks require shelving. Very enjoyable.

    I just read l’appart while I was in Spain for a few weeks. I enjoyed it.

    I am a semi professional remodeler and I have a question.

    Considering, all the petty raggitty ass french bureaucracy that you had to go through, it would seem to me that the French should have building inspectors.

    I most cities in the US a building inspector would have flagged the drains that went uphill and most of the electrical problems.

    Does Paris not have inspecteur trice du bâtiment ?
