Favorite Cookbooks of 2011

As 2011 draws to a close, I look at the stack of books that Iโ€™ve collected on my bookshelf (and piled up on my floorโ€ฆand beside my bed, and stacked in my kitchenโ€ฆ) and wonder how Iโ€™m going to cook and bake from them all. I just canโ€™t help it, thoughโ€”I love cookbooks. And these are the books that I couldnโ€™t resist tackling in 2011,โ€ฆ

Momofuku Milk Bar

I sometimes think about stepping back into the restaurant world. I miss being around all that energy and cooking alongside others instead of toiling in the kitchen all by my lonesome (โ€ฆand with you, of course). But itโ€™s nice to bounce ideas off of others and do more involved presentations, plus Iโ€™ll admit, I miss having a team of dishwashers on staff just as muchโ€”orโ€ฆ

Amnesty Cookies

When I was speaking at the Blogher Food Conference last year, one of the organizers was telling us that on the last day of each month, she carries out what she calls E-mail Amnesty Day. On that day, she deletes all her e-mail in her Inbox, then issues an all-points-bulletin to everyone she knows that if there was anything important in there, to e-mail herโ€ฆ
