Mesquite Chocolate Chip Cookies

A few weeks ago, I was talking to someone about chocolate chip cookies, which is one of my favorite subjects. The French like them, too. They just call them les cookies, as if they didnโ€™t need further clarification. But every time I make a batch of chocolate chip cookies, I have zero trouble handing them off to people. Who can resist a chocolate chip cookie,โ€ฆ

Vaghareli Makai (Spiced Indian Corn)

If I had a nickel for every time I heard, โ€œYou should go to_________,โ€ Iโ€™d have enough money to upgrade on all thoseย flights that Iโ€™d be taking, which would make that prolific quantity of air travel a little more tolerable. Donโ€™t get me wrong, I appreciate suggestions and people looking out for me, so I donโ€™t miss anything great. But for anyone who has everโ€ฆ

Favorite Cookbooks of 2011

As 2011 draws to a close, I look at the stack of books that Iโ€™ve collected on my bookshelf (and piled up on my floorโ€ฆand beside my bed, and stacked in my kitchenโ€ฆ) and wonder how Iโ€™m going to cook and bake from them all. And since this is the Year of Mexico, in France, a few new Mexican places have opened up serving authentic (orโ€ฆ

spiced caramel corn

I love whole grains and I love chocolate. So when I saw this curious Muzzi chocolate bar in a terrific Italian traiteur and grocer, Au Village Italien, I had to add it to my shopping basket. Inside the bar was little bits of puffed farro, or spelt as one would say in English. (Itโ€™s รฉpautre in French, dinkel in German and for the brainiacs outโ€ฆ
