Quite a few of you were interested in what happened around here on Thanksgiving. Even though my internet service is on itโ€™s second week of vexing me, and Iโ€™d just assume go on strike like everyone else around here, in protest, I donโ€™t think Iโ€™d get much sympathy, so I thought Iโ€™d better get my Thanksgiving post up. Fresh Grape Sherbet Recipe

Iโ€™m really fortunate to have two friends, Mort and Jeanette, who live on a boat in the Seine. When Paris gets crazy, as it does in September when everyone returns from their vacations, itโ€™s a lovely respite to have a glass of wine on the deck and watch the world leisurely float by. Itโ€™s a great escape from a bit of the madness of laโ€ฆ

Too much information? Or not enoughโ€ฆ?

Last night was the second-to-last night of the chocolate tour, and we spent it on Mortโ€™s boat, which is anchored in the Seine, just off the place de la Concorde. Like so many things, the evening began with the best of intentions. On the next boat over, la mรจre and le pรจre went away for the holiday weekend, leaving the teenage son alone to haveโ€ฆ

My 10 Favorite Books of 2006

Hereโ€™s a list of 10 books, in no particular order, that Iโ€™ve enjoyed this year. Since I donโ€™t have easy access to English-language books, I chose mine carefully. Although I usually like to read books about food, I got a bit literate and discovered few books about Paris that were truly enlighteningโ€ฆwhich is really saying something for someone that hasnโ€™t lifted the lid on aโ€ฆ
