Paris Cooking Classes, Cooking Schools, and Wine Tastings

Many folks coming to Paris have asked about cooking classes on the non-professional level. Hereโ€™s a list of cooking programs offered around town. Some offer professional-level classes lasting a week or several months, while others are for dedicated home cooks where you can prepare a meal with a local cook in their Parisian kitchen and perhaps visit a market. Bits & Pieces: (Favorite Links)

I always thought that someone could make a mint opening up a good coffee place in Paris. Now there seems to be a few whoโ€™ve heeded the call: Coutume Cafรฉ (47, rue Babylon), KooKa BooRa (62, rue de Martyrs), and Le Bal. Quelle difference! And since this is the Year of Mexico, in France, a few new Mexican places have opened up serving authentic (orโ€ฆ

Scoop

For the first five years in Paris, I wouldnโ€™t go to Scoop. Iโ€™d walk by, scan the selections of hamburgers and โ€œles wrapsโ€, and keep going. Even though I was intrigued with the list of house-made ice creams, Iโ€™d always reason to myself, โ€œI didnโ€™t move to Paris to eat a hamburger.โ€ I was reading recently about a site called My American Market that carriesโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s not as though America shuts down for le 14 juillet. Still, a few places around here do get into the spirit and youโ€™ll see a few bags of cranberries at the market, a few more sweet potatoes piledโ€ฆ

Paris Gastronomy Tour

Doing a culinary tour in Paris is always fun, because not only do I get to meet some new people and make new friends (importantโ€ฆsince the old ones keep deserting me), but I get to revisit my favorite places in Paris. And this week, we made a detour in Lyon as well. So there was a lot more to see, and eatโ€ฆ Lyon is aโ€ฆ

Taillevent, Illy, Chez Dumonet, and O Chateau Wine Tasting

Taillevant & Le Cave Taillevent Last month I had a fabulous lunch at Taillevent, the recently-demoted three-star restaurant, courtesy of some good friends from the states. But if our lunch was any indication, I donโ€™t know whoโ€™s plucking the stars. And at 70โ‚ฌ itโ€™s the deal of the decade: Three courses and lots of little extras. Plus they were very pleased to substitute any ofโ€ฆ

O Chateau: Wine Tasting in Paris

Sometimes I go back into the archives and pull up a post to refresh it. Perhaps the hours have changed, theyโ€™ve moved, or something else prompted me to tweak the entry. But a lot has happened since I first wrote about ร” Chateau wine tasting programs. First off, since I wrote about them, theyโ€™ve moved โ€“ twice.
