Raita

Thereโ€™s a pretty interesting Indian community in Paris and Iโ€™ve taken to walking around areas in Paris like La Chapelle and rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, poking my nose into noisy restaurants and trying to figure out what those colorful and oddly shaped fruits and vegetables at the produces stalls are. There are all sorts of stuff in those shops and Iโ€™m particularly taken with somethingโ€ฆ

Verjus

If youโ€™re one of those people whoโ€™ve been trying to get one of the coveted places at Hidden Kitchen, the supper club in Paris, libertรฉ and egalitรฉ have arrived in the form of a wine bar and restaurant called Verjus. After running their successful dinners, theyโ€™ve decided to take the plunge and create a warm space where they could welcome any and all guests, whetherโ€ฆ

Cafe Pouchkine

In Paris, a city full of spectacular pastry shops, it really takes something major to grab me by the shoulders and shake me to attention. Itโ€™s not that I donโ€™t appreciate the other ones, but when you see something as jaw-dropping as the pastries at Cafรฉ Pouchkine, you canโ€™t help but stop and stand at full attention.

Paris Apps

I am accro (hooked) on my smartphone and when friends told me right before I got it, about how it would change my life, I was skeptical. But the moment I started figuring out all the features and downloading apps, it became an integral part of my life. And like many things, the rest of the world has adapted to the phones and enterprising folksโ€ฆ

Sunday Paris Market

Summer was kind of a bust in Paris this year. True, I did spend three weeks away. But from what everyone told me, Paris was just like the city I came home to; gray and overcast. One of the rewards of living in Paris is summer. After surviving the bleak, cold winter, the payoff is sitting in outdoor cafรฉs drinking cold rosรฉ in the heatโ€ฆ

Paris-Lausanne Tour, September 19-25th

Due to demand for my Paris and Lausanne Gastronomy Tour, weโ€™re offering a second trip this fall. Weโ€™ll begin the week in Paris, exploring chocolate shops, tasting wine, and dining at my favorite tables in Paris. Then weโ€™ll take the high-speed TGV train to Lausanne, Switzerland, to this lovely small city perched above Lake Geneva. With the historic Lausanne Palace and Spa as our homeโ€ฆ

Septime

When I go out to eat, itโ€™s usually not with the intention of writing about a place. I go out to eat to have a good time with friends and enjoy the food. (And perhaps a little wine.) But I found that whenever I donโ€™t expect it, I hit on a place that merits talking about. Septime opened and caused a ripple of excitement inโ€ฆ

Paris Was Ours

Even if youโ€™ve never been to Paris, itโ€™s obvious that the city has a special allure that no other city in the world has, and a multitude of books get written about Paris by past and present residents. Readers look for answers to how French women miraculously stay so slender, or offer guidance for mastering the eternally sun-drenched foods of Provence (which donโ€™t hold backโ€ฆ
