Bourbon-Ginger Pecan Pie

I wasnโ€™t planning on beginning this post for a pie recipe with anything other than a story about how much I liked it, encouragingย you toย make it. (Which Iโ€™ll get to later.) But after I had started writing it, several neighborhoods in Paris came under attack, including mine, and I put everything on hold. Cafรฉs and restaurants that I knew, and areas that I frequent, wereโ€ฆ

Caramel Almond Pie

After my summer break, I came back to the blog and found out that it still thought it was on vacationโ€ฆand wasnโ€™t accepting any photos at this time. I was proud of myself for finally tackling a recipe that Iโ€™ve had on my radar for a while and spent a day baking it, taking pictures, and writing up the post. The recipe was quite aโ€ฆ

Salted Honey Pie

Itโ€™s almost pie season. Right now, thereโ€™s not much fruit available at the markets, but Iโ€™ve had this recipe card lingering in my โ€œto tryโ€ folder, and decided the time was right to give it a go. This is a pie Iโ€™ve enjoyed at Four & Twenty Blackbird Pie Shop in New York and I had the recipe on a card that was in theโ€ฆ

Peanut Butter Paprika Cookies

There isnโ€™t quite a word for โ€œpieโ€ in French.ย Tourteย describes a double-crusted, enclosed pastry of some sort, but isnโ€™t quite the same as pies in the States are. Like dishes from other nationalities and cultures, pie represents a tradition to Americans. Pies are a dessert we look forward to baking when fruitย and berries comeย into season, and they are an essential part of our holidays, like Thanksgivingโ€ฆ

Sโ€™mores Ice Cream Pie with Salted Butter Chocolate Sauce

Summer is a great time for ice cream. Itโ€™s cool, itโ€™s creamy, and Iโ€™ve yet to meet someone who doesnโ€™t like ice cream. Itโ€™s the absolute crowd-pleaser when the temperatures climb. Add toasted marshmallows, salted butter chocolate sauce, and Graham crackers? Iโ€™m in, all the way. Unlike others, I donโ€™t have nostalgic memories that involved Sโ€™mores, so Iโ€™m making up for lost time. This Sโ€™moreโ€ฆ

Spaghetti Pie

Iโ€™m kind of a nitwit in social situations. Consider last spring (or was it summer?), when I was at a party in New York, I met Justin Chapple. A bunch of us chatted casually over cocktails in our friendโ€™sย backyard, but I found out later he is the Mad Genius over at Food &ย Wine and heโ€™s on television and all that good stuff. After I foundโ€ฆ

French Apple Pie

Itโ€™s always nice to meet your heroes and many years ago, I was fortunate to meet one of mine. But I canโ€™t claim Nick Malgieri as โ€œmine,โ€ as heโ€™s been a guiding influence for bakers everywhere, publishing books with recipes and technique for making everything from traditional Italian pastries to Viennese tortes and even Middle East and Greek sweets, to the delight of bakers nearโ€ฆ

Cranberry Raisin Pie

At first, I thought that I was a little late to the party, posting a cranberry recipe after Thanksgiving had passed. Then I realized that now may be the actual best time to post a cranberry recipe since after Thanksgiving there is usually a glut of cranberries on the market, and prices drop after the Thanksgiving. Well, at least in America. I was fortunate becauseโ€ฆ

Chocolate Pecan Pie

I usually try to make pecan pie every year for Thanksgiving. The list of ingredients sends me on a little scavenger hunt around, as American baking in a foreign country can do. And in spite of my best efforts, I donโ€™t always quite make it. But Iโ€™ve gotten wiser over the years and brings things back with me from the States for this all-American dessert,โ€ฆ
