It amuses me when people talk about snooty people sitting around, leisurely eating pรขtรฉ, because pรขtรฉ is rustic, country fare, not considered fancy in France. While pรขtรฉ can have a pastry-type crust (pรขtรฉ en croรปte) and some are a little fancier than others, the cousins of pรขtรฉ, terrines, are truly down-to-earth. Cafe du Coin

Iโ€™m often asked by people coming to Paris what neighborhood they should stay in. The usual โ€œoff-the-beaten-pathโ€ฆbut not too far from the centerโ€ doesnโ€™t help me figure out what fits those seemingly opposing bills.
