Texas Peach Cobbler

Peach Cobbler has become the most requested dessert around here this summer. I donโ€™t think Romain had ever had a cobbler โ€“ I usually make crisps, which the French call crumbles. But Iโ€™ve been revisiting some cookbooks on my shelf that I hadnโ€™t used for a while and pulled down The Pastry Queen by Rebecca Rather, who was the owner of several bakeries in Texasโ€ฆ.

Bakers Against Racism, Paris Bake Sale

This Saturday, a group of bakers in Paris will be gathering for a bake sale in support of La Ligue des droits de lโ€™Homme, a human rights organization in France that fights for the rights of victims of discrimination and racism, as well as other inequalities. Iโ€™ll be there from 1 to 3pm with copies of Lโ€™Appart in hardcover and paperback. Each sale will includeโ€ฆ

Twentieth Anniversary of the Blog!

I know I should have baked a cake, or rather, someone else should have baked a cake. But no matter. (Okay, so it matters a littleโ€ฆ) Iโ€™m happy to celebrate the blog turning twenty this month! Iโ€™m not sure how the twenty-year mark snuck up so fast, but it did. Who knew when I started posting a bunch of random thoughts, ramblings, and recipes onlineโ€ฆ

London Book Events โ€“ This Week

Although it seems like I travel a lot, I normally donโ€™tโ€”I swear. (Although I think my internal clock, which is going haywire, might disagree with that statement.) However I couldnโ€™t resist coming to London to celebrate the release of Ready for Dessert in the UK, in addition to the UK-edition of The Perfect Scoop. Iโ€™ll be making a quick jaunt to London this Tuesday, Septemberโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s Ready! Ready for Dessert Video

Am so happy to release of my newest book, Ready for Dessertโ€”a hefty volume of my all-time favorite recipes! Youโ€™ll find everything I love in this book, from the Chocolate Chip Cookies that won over les Parisiens to a French inspired Apple-Frangipan Galette. I figured out the secret to truly chewy Peanut Butter Cookies, and frosted Black and Whites finally get their due. I riffโ€ฆ

I Have 51

In French, if someone asks you how old you are, you respond, โ€œJโ€™ai 51 ansโ€, which translates to โ€œI have 51 years.โ€ It one of the quirks of grammar between the languages, which donโ€™t always intersect. In English, we do say, โ€œI own _______โ€ (fill in blank with something of which you have global, all-encompassing command of), which is a popular phrase, one that Iโ€ฆ

Shameless Groveling

Alright, folks. Weโ€™re about halfway through Menu for Hope 6 and weโ€™re almost at the $20,000 mark. Thanks to all of you who contributed to this incredibly worthy cause! However being an overachiever (in spite of what a therapist, or my editor, might say), I think we can do better. Like, a whole lot better. So just to remind you, hereโ€™s a list of aโ€ฆ

Signed Collection of Davidโ€™s Cookbooks: Menu for Hope 6

Have you been searching for copies of my first two cookbooks, Room for Dessert and Ripe for Dessert, only to find out that theyโ€™re now out of print? Released in 1999, Room for Dessert had recipes for over 100 of my favorite desserts. Ripe for Dessert followed the same winning formula for easy-to-follow recipes, with a focus on using fruit. Both books were photographed byโ€ฆ

Liqueur de noix: Green Walnut Liqueur

I recently stayed with some friends who have a house in the Lot, a lesser-visited area of France which is really beautiful. It lacks beaches, which seems to be the only thing keeping it from being an ideal summer vacation spot for tourists. Consequently, I was able to score some gorgeous old bistro wine glasses at a local flea market, which wouldโ€™ve been ten timesโ€ฆ
