Edwart Chocolatier

Iโ€™d been meaning to stop into Edwart Chocolatier since it opened nearly three years ago. But I had my head buried in the books and I wasnโ€™t let out until after dark. And once released, Iโ€™d make a sprint to the nearest bar or cafรฉ for a drink or glass of wine, before retreating again. When we finally connected, Edwin Yansanรฉ said I should comeโ€ฆ

Green Pea and Radish Tartines

Once upon a time, there was something calledย I Hate Peasย โ€“ French fries with ridges that you baked in the oven, aimed at kids who wouldnโ€™t eat their vegetables. They supposedly had all the nutrients of peas without whatever it is about peas that apparently some kids donโ€™t like. Kofta with Yogurt-Tahini Sauce

There are many types of kofta, and spellings, including (but not limited to), kofta, kafta, and kufta, cooked in various countries and regions around the world. Brown Bread Ice Cream

When I was in Ireland, after a wonderful dinner at an old country inn, I was served a big bowl of Brown Bread Ice Cream. I had heard about this unusual ice cream quite a while back and like Grape-Nuts Ice Cream, which is something apparently enjoyed in New England (although I was born and live there for eighteen years and never saw or tastedโ€ฆ

My 10 Favorite Books of 2006

Hereโ€™s a list of 10 books, in no particular order, that Iโ€™ve enjoyed this year. Since I donโ€™t have easy access to English-language books, I chose mine carefully. Although I usually like to read books about food, I got a bit literate and discovered few books about Paris that were truly enlighteningโ€ฆwhich is really saying something for someone that hasnโ€™t lifted the lid on aโ€ฆ
