When I found out that Cuisinart had released a brand-new model of their ice cream machine, I asked if they would let me give two away on my site. And I was happy when they agreed!

I’ve been using my ICE-50 for a number of years, which is self-refrigerating, so I can make ice cream and sorbet whenever I want and not have to pre-freeze the canister. It’s the machine I relied heavily on when churning up with the recipes in The Perfect Scoop.

The next generation of this machine, the ICE-100 ice cream freezer will churn up 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream or sorbet with the use of an internal compressor. And now that summer is almost here, it’s the perfect time to add an ice cream freezer to your kitchen.

To enter, leave a comment with the name of your favorite flavor of ice cream, sorbet, or sherbet. Only one entry per person is allowed and please leave a valid e-mail address so you can be contacted if you win.

NOTE: The give-away is now closed. The winners were chosen at random, and are Katie S. and Blaine W, who have been contacted. Thanks to all who entered! – dl

The comments will be closed on Tuesday – June 19, 2012, at 6pm Paris time. Please read the rules below carefully before entering.

Nectarine Sorbet

Good luck – and happy churning to the winners!

-David

My favorite Ice Cream to make is a deep rich chocolate ice cream that takes 8 egg yolks and 2 and 1/2 cups of heavy cream and 1 and 1/2 cups of whole milk. When i can get Guernsey or Jersey cou, I use that. It is so rich and thick and yellow. I also like to use a nice Dutch processed cocoa from Belgium or France. I have to order that from Worldwide Chocolate, so, I don’t always have it. I add a bit of my own homemade vanilla extract and sometimes toasted almonds coated in melted bittersweet chocolate I get from a small purveyor on 9th Ave and 40th Street in New York.

I have been usiing a Cuisinart with the bowl that one has to keep in the freezer. I have had it for years and it is still churning out nice creamy ice cream. It would be nice to have that freezer space to store the ice cream better.

My favorite flavor depends on the day. Today the weather is especially warm. That being so my favorite frozen delight would have to be a tart citrus sorbet, preferably lemon and lime.

    • Joan Moore

I rarely make ice cream because my ice cream freezer is the old fashioned hand crank kind. When I do make it, it is always peach. My favorite to buy is the burnt caramel from Penny Ice Creamery in Santa Cruz. That ice cream is extraordinary. Someday I must try to make my own.

It used to be Cherry Garcia. Something about those scrumptious cherries that took on a flavor identity all their own. But then I discovered the same brand Pistachio. Incredibly, the ice cream has the essence of almond extract, a flavor I find seductive. And then that creamy texture is punctuated by slightly salty pistachios. Heaven! Give me a pint, just for me.

    • Jada

    Salted Caramel!

    • Elizabeth Minchilli

I was just recently at Sur La Table the other day fantasizing about buying that ice cream maker. Unfortunately, it’s well beyond my graduate student budget, so it would be awesome to win one! My current favorite flavor to make is salted caramel ice cream–though your peach ice cream using sour cream in The Perfect Scoop is my all time favorite flavor to make (especially right now while the farmers’ markets are overflowing with peaches).
