When I found out that Cuisinart had released a brand-new model of their ice cream machine, I asked if they would let me give two away on my site. And I was happy when they agreed!

I’ve been using my ICE-50 for a number of years, which is self-refrigerating, so I can make ice cream and sorbet whenever I want and not have to pre-freeze the canister. It’s the machine I relied heavily on when churning up with the recipes in The Perfect Scoop.

The next generation of this machine, the ICE-100 ice cream freezer will churn up 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream or sorbet with the use of an internal compressor. And now that summer is almost here, it’s the perfect time to add an ice cream freezer to your kitchen.

To enter, leave a comment with the name of your favorite flavor of ice cream, sorbet, or sherbet. Only one entry per person is allowed and please leave a valid e-mail address so you can be contacted if you win.

NOTE: The give-away is now closed. The winners were chosen at random, and are Katie S. and Blaine W, who have been contacted. Thanks to all who entered! – dl

The comments will be closed on Tuesday – June 19, 2012, at 6pm Paris time. Please read the rules below carefully before entering.

Nectarine Sorbet

Good luck – and happy churning to the winners!

-David

I love any NO-sugar added frozen treat and they must be as low carb as possible since I am type-2 diabetic. It seems the only available flavors are the runofthemill chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. I would love to be able to make more exotic flavors using my own ice cream maker like coffee mocha, cinnamon apple…oo oo oo something with MAPLE! I am drooling thinking about it. I hope I win the Cuisinart ICE-100 so I can start experimenting.

    • Ingrid Budrovich

In the winter it is fior di latte. But with summer approaching, it has to be basil, all the way. C’est frais, n’est pas?

Oh my, thank you for the give away! I’m half afraid to enter because I would be making and eating ice cream all the time.

My favorite ice cream is Coffee and Chicory by the New Orleans Ice Cream Company, located right on Bourbon St. in the French Quarter. I like to say that I’ve eaten gelato in Italy, and this is better than that! They do a great job of taking classic and big New Orleans flavors (like white chocolate bread pudding, second favorite) and turning it into ice cream. Too bad I can’t get it in the grocery stores in Seattle! I should try to recreate it at home with this ice cream maker, yes?

Anything my husband makes from your book. Toasted coconut, mint, or salty caramel are quite often my pick. Anything but his blue cheese honey :)

    • Sandra Fish

    Lychee ice cream.
When I was growing up in Cape Town, South Africa, we had an Italian restaurant and gelateria that made the most amazing flavors of ice cream, but the one I always stopped for on the way home from the beach was the outstanding lychee one. It is still a mandatory stop on the unfortunately infrequent occasions I get to go “home”.

    Mint Chocolate Chip!

    • evain

Growing up in San Francisco in the 60’s, the only place for ice cream was Baskin Robbins and Swensens for me and my sisters. We always ordered the typical chocolate or strawberry and sometimes ventured to try something new. I remember ordering pistachio because I loved the nuts so much. YUCK! Fast Forward some 40 years later to my trip in Paris. My husband and I were there during the first week opening of GROM! OMG they gave out a sample of their pistachio gelato! SO HEAVENLY! Since then, I’ve been searching in the Bay Area for that exact flavor and texture with NO LUCK! Even with all the new ice creamery establishments, I have yet to find the perfect. Tried making it a few times, but it just wasn’t as amazing. I think it has a lot to do with the pistachios that are available in California.

My favorite flavor is butter pecan when the pecans are actually buttered and salted. Breyers made a special one for Lundy’s in Sheepshead Bay, and the pecans were whole and buttered and salted. It was to die for.
