When I found out that Cuisinart had released a brand-new model of their ice cream machine, I asked if they would let me give two away on my site. And I was happy when they agreed!

I’ve been using my ICE-50 for a number of years, which is self-refrigerating, so I can make ice cream and sorbet whenever I want and not have to pre-freeze the canister. It’s the machine I relied heavily on when churning up with the recipes in The Perfect Scoop.

The next generation of this machine, the ICE-100 ice cream freezer will churn up 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream or sorbet with the use of an internal compressor. And now that summer is almost here, it’s the perfect time to add an ice cream freezer to your kitchen.

To enter, leave a comment with the name of your favorite flavor of ice cream, sorbet, or sherbet. Only one entry per person is allowed and please leave a valid e-mail address so you can be contacted if you win.

NOTE: The give-away is now closed. The winners were chosen at random, and are Katie S. and Blaine W, who have been contacted. Thanks to all who entered! – dl

The comments will be closed on Tuesday – June 19, 2012, at 6pm Paris time. Please read the rules below carefully before entering.

Nectarine Sorbet

Good luck – and happy churning to the winners!

-David

First prize would be deep, dark chocolate gelato .. no bits in it, just smooth @ sublimely creamy. Just like we had in Italy.
2nd prize is rum ‘n raisin. If there has to be ‘bits’ in my ice-cream, please let them be plump and juicy raisins.
I foolishly sold my ice-cream machine 15 yrs ago and have regretted it ever since

It has to be Speculoos ice cream, the simplest recipe but the most amazing flavour. When I was a child my grandmother allowed me to have whatever I liked between two slices of bread, choclate, jam, dark brown muscuvado sugar or speculoos biscuits. As long as I ate the bread it didn’t matter. And my favourite was speculoos so now having it as an ice cream is just great.

Cookies and cream. If I had to pick something for my last meal’s dessert, it would be cookies and cream. The worst part? I found out I’m allergic to chocolate, so I can’t have it any more because of the oreos. Haha.

My favorite is Ciao Bella Blood Orange Sorbetto. Tough question… my favorite ice cream is probably whichever flavor I made that week, but if I had to pick one ice cream to have for all eternity, it would have to be a Mexican Hot Chocolate. So cool, so spicy and all chocolate. Yum! Hmmm… I wonder if I have the ingredients on hand to make it next.

Coffee has to be my favorite flavor ! I use a Cuisinart machine when making your recipe but would love to win so I could graduate to a more advanced model. Bravo to Cuisinart for the improvement and to you, David, for an always entertaining and enlightening blog.

I know a lot of folks might be going all high-falutin’ with this one, but nothing beats a solid bowl of cookies n’ cream for me (with REAL Oreos, please).

    • James in Seattle

Generally, my favorite ice cream flavor is whatever I happen to have in the freezer at a given moment. That being said, if I have to narrow it down, then I’d say rhubarb. It’s rhubarb season right now in the Pacific Northwest and my neighbors across the street keep a steady supply headed my way. After making the usual pies, crisps, sauce, jam, chutney, etc…I’ve had to come up with other ways to use the avalanche of rhubarb that lands on my porch each week. It’s taken a little experimentation, but I think I’ve perfected an intensely flavored rhubarb ice cream, which has become a real favorite.

First to mind is Lavender, even though it puts me to sleep. Always held respect for green tea, maybe due my fascination of its deep fried component at . But both of those are two soft for my personality, and are only first to mind. Favorite ice cream would be malted vanilla with peanut butter filled pretzels and caramel and fudge. No shame.
