When I found out that Cuisinart had released a brand-new model of their ice cream machine, I asked if they would let me give two away on my site. And I was happy when they agreed!

I’ve been using my ICE-50 for a number of years, which is self-refrigerating, so I can make ice cream and sorbet whenever I want and not have to pre-freeze the canister. It’s the machine I relied heavily on when churning up with the recipes in The Perfect Scoop.

The next generation of this machine, the ICE-100 ice cream freezer will churn up 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream or sorbet with the use of an internal compressor. And now that summer is almost here, it’s the perfect time to add an ice cream freezer to your kitchen.

To enter, leave a comment with the name of your favorite flavor of ice cream, sorbet, or sherbet. Only one entry per person is allowed and please leave a valid e-mail address so you can be contacted if you win.

NOTE: The give-away is now closed. The winners were chosen at random, and are Katie S. and Blaine W, who have been contacted. Thanks to all who entered! – dl

The comments will be closed on Tuesday – June 19, 2012, at 6pm Paris time. Please read the rules below carefully before entering.

Nectarine Sorbet

Good luck – and happy churning to the winners!

-David

There are numerous excellent contenders, and many I love among them. Nothing, but nothing, has ever been or will ever be better than gloriously chocolatey chocolate. If they don’t have it in heaven, I’m not going there.

oh my! we’ve been on an ice cream kick around here using your recipes and our old ice cream maker that’s held together with electrical tape. electrical tape does everything that duct tape doesn’t do well including seal up open wounds. slated for creation next is more cinnamon, the chocolate guinness, and roasted banana.

my favourite ice cream right now is probably something called guatemalan ripple – a coffee chocolate deliciousness. second is your cinnamon. but really? i adore almost all ice cream and love a small mix of many in my bowl.

    thank you for the offer.

Espresso Coffee Ice Cream, discontinued flavor from Starbuck

    • Jeff Shaw

Picking a favorite ice cream flavor is really quite a challenge. I’d have to say a really good vanilla is hard to beat but honestly can’t say no to any ice cream flavor. That’s why having a new ice cream maker would be such a treat. Ive been churning everything by hand in a traditional bucket and would love to be able to make a more consistent batch whenever I feel like it.

    • Naomi Knox

Pistachio, partially because it’s so expensive to make so I don’t get to enjoy it as often as I’d like

    • Jenn Sutherland

Currently, my favorite frozen confection is the sour cherry, vanilla sorbet with a dash of aged balsamic that I churned last night – amazing!

I would love to have a Cuisinart machine that didn’t require freezing the bowl – think of how much more ice cream I could store in the freezer without a bowl hoarding all the space – genius!

It’s very hard to choose, but pushed up against the wall with an ice cream maker as ransom, I’ll have to say salted caramel.

    • Laurie Riedeman

I love my cuisinart, but alas being used nearly every day some weeks, it is dying a slow death after 7 years. My favorite flavor: coconut-almond-chocolate-chip.

    • Joan Schipper

Today we made chocolate sorbet after seeing the recipe posted on Food52. This recipe is magic! We did have to churn and churn and churn some more. That lead to quite the conversation on food science and thermodynamics and Harold McGee’s book made an appearance and we had to look at all the referneces to ice cream and other frozen treats.
In spite of that (or because of it?) we all loved the sorbet. We have not resolved the mystery oftthe effect of dutched v not-dutched cocoa.
In the middle of all this, I realized that my sister and brother-in-law need a copy of the Perfect Scoop so bad!
If we win a Cuisinart Ice cream freezer we will be in frozen dessert heaven and we’ll have to work through every single recipe in the Perfect Scoop.
Got my fingers crossed. Thank you David.

    • Alison

That is an incredibly difficult question. I love the plain, sour-ish yogurts that are all over now, but love so many ice cream flavors. One of the best though is the plain old strawberry in my freezer – I made it last night from fresh, local strawberries. That’s about as good as it gets.
