When I found out that Cuisinart had released a brand-new model of their ice cream machine, I asked if they would let me give two away on my site. And I was happy when they agreed!

I’ve been using my ICE-50 for a number of years, which is self-refrigerating, so I can make ice cream and sorbet whenever I want and not have to pre-freeze the canister. It’s the machine I relied heavily on when churning up with the recipes in The Perfect Scoop.

The next generation of this machine, the ICE-100 ice cream freezer will churn up 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream or sorbet with the use of an internal compressor. And now that summer is almost here, it’s the perfect time to add an ice cream freezer to your kitchen.

To enter, leave a comment with the name of your favorite flavor of ice cream, sorbet, or sherbet. Only one entry per person is allowed and please leave a valid e-mail address so you can be contacted if you win.

NOTE: The give-away is now closed. The winners were chosen at random, and are Katie S. and Blaine W, who have been contacted. Thanks to all who entered! – dl

The comments will be closed on Tuesday – June 19, 2012, at 6pm Paris time. Please read the rules below carefully before entering.

Nectarine Sorbet

Good luck – and happy churning to the winners!

-David

My favorite flavor used to be cappuccino commotion, a coffee ice cream with cinnamon glazed almonds that the local hagen-daaz carried but ALAS has not had available for years now… So I settle for a nice, delicate cinnamon ice cream, since I don’t have an ice cream maker to try my hand at my own flavors… yet!

    • Diane

How cruel to have to choose…I guess I would have to say mint chocolate chip, but I am finicky about it and only like it from a couple places.

    • Kathleen

Lemon Crisp, which is a lemon ice cream (not sorbet) with tiny grains of lemon candy.

I get home from work in the wee hours of the morning. At this time of year 4 am is full on daylight. (I live in Alaska) I have to milk the goat, look for any hidden duck eggs ( I am letting the ducks roam around the property day and night due to an unwelcome ermine in the enclosure~ hence, no permanent nests.) If the goose was not setting on some (long overdue) eggs, I would grab her special gift. Then, pursing my library of endless recipes (thank you David Lebovitz and internet magic) I will come up with some special treat to use whatever ingredients I have on hand…generally that will come from the free produce I get from the local grocery store to feed the goats…often there are some perfectly good raspberries, strawberries, kumquats…you name it. So, my favorite glace would have to be whatever I am making in the moment…but there is no beating goat milk and duck eggs as the main ingredients! Rich, smooth, creamy, personally fulfilling and very exhilirating. A real vanilla bean…crushed coffee beans…macadamias… mini peanut butter cups…lemons… persimmons…what’s in season now? Wait! I can’t wait! I am screaming for Ice Cream Now!

Your chocolate sorbet, it is universally a snap to make, is great on its own, mixed with toffee or salted nuts, candied citrus peel, served inside grilled stone fruits, mixed with partially dried raspberries or any fruit from the dehydrator, or in combo with almost any other sorbet or ice cream, and our newest favorite improvisation of the Serendipity frozen hot chocolate in a frozen coffee drink.

I first fell in love with 31 flavors Mandarin Chocolate sherbet but had to drive 40 miles too far to get it. Made my own ice cream with the antique wooden bucket crank type with salt & ice. I used freshly picked blackberries in August.
Moved on to a Donvier and had a brief fling with a fabulous homemade applesauce sorbet, followed by peach, blueberry, and just plain old Vanilla with beans from a Tahiti escale.
Never figured out how to make green tea ice cream but then I’m lazy. First had it in Hawaii but it was a one night stand. Still secretly in love with it.
Current passion is anything with caramel, salted or otherwise. Recently tried Dove’s chocolate caramel combo, but definitely prefer Ben & Jerry’s Dulce de Leche. Probably my favorite right now but who knows what tomorrow will bring.

    • Alanna GOH
