When I found out that Cuisinart had released a brand-new model of their ice cream machine, I asked if they would let me give two away on my site. And I was happy when they agreed!

I’ve been using my ICE-50 for a number of years, which is self-refrigerating, so I can make ice cream and sorbet whenever I want and not have to pre-freeze the canister. It’s the machine I relied heavily on when churning up with the recipes in The Perfect Scoop.

The next generation of this machine, the ICE-100 ice cream freezer will churn up 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream or sorbet with the use of an internal compressor. And now that summer is almost here, it’s the perfect time to add an ice cream freezer to your kitchen.

To enter, leave a comment with the name of your favorite flavor of ice cream, sorbet, or sherbet. Only one entry per person is allowed and please leave a valid e-mail address so you can be contacted if you win.

    Favorite ice cream flavor – mint chocolate chip. I love that my daughter takes after me in this. I would also love to not have to freeze the bowl prior to making ice cream! It takes all the fun and spontaneity out of it!

    I would have to say that Blood Orange Sorbet served in a little puddle of Grand Marnier
    with a nice pinch of freshly made blood orange rind on top is my current favourite sorbet.

    as a child i lived around the world and traveled extensively. so i got to try many a lovely regional delicacy – otherwise known as spending the rest of your life craving things far away and hard to find! thanks mum and dad.
    my favorite: orange ice cream made with a creamy thickened milk, and some rose water, then poured into a whole intact orange peel and frozen. the creamy ice cream gets infused with the orange oils.

    I have a lot of favorites… but I love vanilla bean. Ben and Jerry’s also makes a raspberry frozen yogurt with chocolate chunks that is amazing, if you’re not a make-your-own type.

    My first batch with this would definitely be Earl Grey ice cream – I don’t know of any places nearby that sells a bergamot ice cream, and I have this weird fixation!

    It was quite hard to decide, finally I came to the conclusion that my faourite icecream-sorbet is actually not an icecream-sorbet, but a sicilian granita! In particular the strawberry granita tipical of my father’s city (Messina). It is a must for sicilian breakfast, served with a bit of wipped cream and a fragrant brioche! You should try it!

    For me, creating  in my kitchen is  even more delightful  than eating! Employing the use of  my kitchen “toys” to prepare  yummy eats for those I love is frequent occurrence. Today, Fathers Day, reckons memories of the many days  when my “Daddyo” use to round up all  five of us kids to go to the local drug store for a 5 penny ice cream cone.  My favorite was the “green one”; pistachio. Sometimes on payday he would bring home a treat of a gallon of napoleon flavor which included vanilla, chocolate and strawberry sections.  Upon serving  he would check flavor requests so he could carefully scoop only our desired flavors from the three. Mine was always chocolate. At the blessed age of 91 years old he left to his final resting home just 4 months ago.  It’s ironic that today, his love of ice cream and sharing with his family is just one of the many delightful legacies he has left along with delicious  memories for me to cherish.  The pure and simple things of are always the best!
