Wednesday PM: Quittinโ Time
Thatโs okay. I really didnโt want to make a batch of ice cream tonight anyways. (Although I really didnโt want to spend the next forty-five minutes on my hands and knees with a sponge and a bucket either.)

One of the best restaurants in Paris is one that I have a hard time recommending. Itโs not that the food isnโt consistently very good-to-excellent. Nor is the service anything less than friendly and sincere. One problem with LโEntredgeu is that itโs way up in the 17th, pretty much away from everything else. Thatโs relatively minor, though. The big problem for me is the name;โฆ
This past weekend I went to the Marchรฉ des Producteurs de Pays, a lively little outdoor event where people come from across France to sell their edible wares here in Paris. Naturally, there were lots of mountain cheeses, specialty honey, and regional wines. But I was on a mission to stock up on les pruneaux dโAgen since I knew the producers (producteurs) would be thereโฆ
Itโs that time of the year, folks, when everyoneโs thoughts turn to baking. Coincidentally itโs when the new crop of baking books is released, just in time for the sweet surge. I woke up yesterday around 6am, and all I could think about was food. Of course it was Thanksgiving, and there was so much to do. In spite of the strike, my friend David did manage to arrive just in time for dinner, a little sleep, and a early-morning trip to the outdoor market to load up on everything for a full day of cookingโฆ.
I opened my jar of molasses to start my Thanksgiving bakingโฆ I hope this isnโt a bad omen. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! (And wish me luckโฆ)
Something around here stinks. And itโs not just my neighbor. When I moved to Paris, I remember my first load of laundry that I proudly pulled out of my little machine tucked in the corner. After I figured out the seven different dials and nine different buttons on the machine (actually, Iโve still only managed to figure out what about a third of them do),โฆ
