Pad Thai

Even though some think it’s a cop-out ordering Pad Thai in a Thai restaurant, marking you as a newbie, I like it quite a bit. I do tend to go for Pad See Ew, wide pan-fried rice noodles, although I’m a little picky about them because I like the dish when the chewy ribbons of noodles have stuck to the wok and start sticking together,…

Concord Grape Shrub and Cocktail

One of my favorite things, or some of my favorite things, I should say, are Concord grapes. I grew up eating them as a snack, as well as in jams, jellies, and even desserts. And if anyone else is old enough, raise your hand if you remember the Welch’s Concord grape juice stand at the original Disneyland in Anaheim. Who cared about those chirpy wooden…

L’Appart, now available in Paperback!

The story was a long time in the making, from deciding to plant roots in Paris, to finding an apartment and tackling a renovation. As often happens, things didn’t quite go as planned. But now I find myself looking forward to my favorite newsletters showing up in…

News, and a Book/Ice Cream Event

I took a break for some quality family time, which, by happy coincidence, included a dose of beach time as well. I’m hoping to put together a post about the trip,…

[Next month I’ll be at WHSmith in Paris on February…

L’appart Book Signings and Events

My new book, L’appart, is out! I wrote a post with the backstory behind the book. (Spoiler: It’s a comedy of errors – mostly mine, with recipes), but here’s a list of book signings and related events that are coming up: Most were listed on my Schedule page, as well as on my Facebook page, and some of the ticketed events sold-out quickly. However, in…
